3 Reasons Seed Oils Are Failing You: Why You’re Doing Healthy Fats All Wrong

Stop eating "heart-healthy" vegetable oils. You are destroying your mitochondria.
I spent ten years following the food pyramid. I ate the margarine. I used the canola oil. I avoided the butter. I felt like trash. I had brain fog. I had skin issues. I had no energy.
Then I looked at the data. Not the marketing. The data.
Most "healthy" advice is just a 50-year-old marketing campaign for industrial waste. You aren't failing your diet. Your fats are failing you.
Here is why you need to throw out every bottle of seed oil in your kitchen.
1. You are eating industrial lubricant, not food.
History is the best teacher. Before 1911, humans didn't eat seed oils. We ate tallow. We ate lard. We ate butter.
Then came Crisco.
Procter & Gamble had a problem. They had a surplus of cottonseed oil. It was used to make soap. It was used as a lubricant for machinery. It was waste. They realized if they hydrogenated it, it looked like lard.
They didn't find a health breakthrough. They found a profit margin.
They marketed it as "digestible." They marketed it as "clean." They gave it away to doctors. By the time the American Heart Association was formed, seed oil companies were their biggest donors.
I stopped looking at labels for "vitamins." I started looking for origins. If it takes a chemical refinery to turn a seed into a liquid, it doesn't belong in your body.
Your cells aren't built to process hexane. They aren't built to process high-heat bleached liquids. When you eat soybean oil, you aren't eating a plant. You are eating a chemical byproduct.
2. Oxidation is a slow-motion fire in your blood.
This is the part most "experts" ignore.
Seed oils are Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs). Chemically, they have multiple double bonds. This makes them unstable.
Think about a piece of iron. If it sits in the rain, it rusts. That is oxidation.
PUFAs oxidize when they are exposed to heat, light, and oxygen. Think about how seed oil is made. It is crushed. It is heated to extreme temperatures. It is deodorized with chemicals. By the time it hits the bottle, it is already rancid.
Then you put it in a pan. You heat it again.
When you ingest these oxidized fats, they integrate into your cell membranes. Your cells become unstable. This creates a cascade of inflammation. It’s like trying to build a house using rotten wood. The house might look fine from the street, but the structure is failing.
I switched to saturated fats for a month. Tallow. Ghee. Coconut oil. These are stable. They have single bonds. They don’t "rust" in your body. My skin cleared up. My joint pain disappeared.
If your fat can't sit on a shelf for a year without going rancid, why are you putting it in your arteries?
3. The 20:1 Ratio is killing your metabolism.
Humanity evolved on a 1:1 ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids. This is the balance of life.
Omega-3 is anti-inflammatory. Omega-6 is pro-inflammatory. You need both. But you need them in balance.
The modern diet has a ratio of 20:1. Some people are at 50:1.
Seed oils—corn, sunflower, soybean, safflower—are loaded with Linoleic Acid. This is a concentrated Omega-6 hit. When you flood your system with Omega-6, your body stays in a constant state of "red alert."
You aren't "getting old." You are just inflamed.
I cut out the seed oils and my recovery time halved. I stopped feeling sore for three days after a workout. Why? Because I stopped pouring gasoline on the fire.
Most people try to fix this by taking fish oil. You can't out-supplement a bad foundation. Adding more Omega-3 to a body drowning in Omega-6 is like putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound.
You don't need more supplements. You need less poison.
The Insight: The "Plant-Based" Label is a Trojan Horse.
Here is the take nobody wants to hear: The push for plant-based eating isn't about the environment. It isn't about your health.
It’s about the supply chain.
Animal fats are expensive. They are hard to scale. They have a soul.
Seed oils are cheap. They are subsidized by the government. They have a shelf life of forever.
When you see a "Plant-Based" burger or a "Healthy" oat milk, look at the ingredients. The second or third ingredient is almost always rapeseed or sunflower oil. They are selling you a "health" product that is actually a delivery mechanism for the cheapest, most inflammatory fat on the planet.
We have traded biological compatibility for corporate convenience.
We are the first generations in history to replace ancestral fats with industrial sludge. The "obesity epidemic" didn't start when we started eating meat. It started when we stopped eating butter and started eating "vegetable" oils.
Stop listening to the "Heart Healthy" stickers. Those stickers are bought and paid for.
Listen to your biology.
The Swap:
- Throw out the Canola. Buy Tallow.
- Throw out the "Vegetable" oil. Buy Ghee.
- Throw out the Margarine. Buy Grass-fed Butter.
- Throw out the Oat Milk. Drink water or raw dairy.
The most "radical" thing you can do for your health in 2024 is eat like it's 1890.
Go to your pantry right now. Look at the ingredients on your "healthy" snacks. How many of them contain seed oils?
